All three contestants performing this week had been saved by the panel and the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell, giving them another chance. Gargoyle, Medusa and Mantis all faced off to win a place in the quarter finals. Mantis was the first to be voted off and after singing You Really Got Me by The Kinks was revealed to be actor Lou Diamond Phillips, who played Richie Valens in La Bamba. The onstage clue was a sword with movie maverick written on it. The singer said he has more movie credits than Ken Jeong. There was also a baseball diamond blue in the package. None of the panel correctly guessed his identity Robin Thicke thought it might be Denis Quaid, Jenny McCarthy said Kevin Bacon, Ken Jeong got booed for guessing Brendan Fraser while Nicole Scherzinger thought it might be Steve Buscemi. Phillips said he had been approached several times in the past to appear on The Masked Singer, but his schedule didnt permit it. This time it did, but first he wanted to get the blessing from his teenage daughter. Ive watched the show over a number of seasons now and its just so much fun, and its a real crowd pleaser, he said. My youngest daughter Indigo, whos 15, its her favorite show. She gets on a FaceTime with a friend of hers and they watch together. So, when the opportunity came up, I said: Indigo, what do you think? She thought about it because, you know, theres Dad world - the movies and TV things that I do - and then theres Indigo world - stuff that she loves. And there was there was a moment where its like: Please dont ruin my show. She thought about it and finally gave me the permission. And then she got very excited about it, especially when she saw the costume. It turned into a nice little family adventure. That left Gargoyle and Medusa to face off in the Baattle Royale with Medusa winning and going through to the quarter finals next week. Gargoyle was unmasked and revealed to be LA Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen. In the case of the Gargoyle, the panel also missed. Thicke picked the wrong Charger, Joey Bosa.
